Roof repair

Leaks, storm damage, missing shingles, and flashing fixes.

Not every roof problem is a roof replacement. A lot of what we get called out to is one failed detail — a length of flashing that has lifted, a cracked boot around a vent stack, a valley that has worn through, shingles that came off in a windstorm. Fixed properly, those buy you years.

The work is in finding the actual source. Water rarely drips straight down from where it got in; it runs along the sheathing or a rafter and shows up somewhere else entirely. That is why we trace it from the stain back up the roof rather than patching the spot on the ceiling.

What we get called out for most

  • Water stains on a ceiling or down an interior wall
  • Shingles missing or lifted after a windstorm
  • Damaged or cracked flashing around a chimney, skylight, or wall
  • Worn vent boots — the rubber collars around plumbing stacks crack with age
  • Blocked or overflowing valleys and gutters backing water up under the shingles
  • Moss lifting shingle edges and holding water against the roof

What the work includes

Finding the source

We trace the leak back from where it shows inside to where it actually enters, which is often several feet uphill of the stain.

An honest call on repair vs replace

If a repair genuinely solves it, we repair it. If the roof is failing across the board and a patch only buys a few months, we will tell you that instead of selling you a repair you will be calling us back about.

Flashing and detail work

Chimney, wall, skylight, and valley flashing repaired or replaced — the details that cause most leaks.

Shingle and vent repairs

Replacing blown-off or damaged shingles and worn vent boots, matched as closely as the existing roof allows.

Common questions

Can you match my existing shingles?
We get as close as we can, but an exact match is rarely possible on an older roof. Shingle lines change over the years and the existing roof has weathered and lost granules since it went on, so new shingles almost always look newer. On a visible section we will talk through the options before we start.
Is it worth repairing an old roof?
Sometimes. If the roof is generally sound and one detail has failed, a repair is good value. If the shingles are failing everywhere and the deck is soft, money spent on repairs is money spent twice. We will give you a straight answer after we have looked at it — that is what the free inspection is for.
My roof is leaking right now. What do I do?
Contain the water inside, move anything that can be damaged, and call us. Do not climb up on a wet roof to look — that is how people get hurt. There is more on what to do in the first hour on our emergency roof repair page.
